Alloy Wheel Refurbishment

Stage 1

First stage of the alloy wheel refurbishment process is to check the alloys for flat spots, buckles or cracks. The wheels are put onto our digital wheel balancer to check for buckles and/or flat spots. On inspection, if there is a buckle, flat spot or crack present in the wheel you will receive a video detailing the imperfection. If the buckle can be safely removed and/or the crack can be welded, this is a process we do at the centre.

Stage 2

The wheels are completely submerged in a chemical stripping tank which removes all the paint from the wheel. After the wheels are stripped of the paint they are washed to decontaminate the wheel. They are then visually inspected again to check for any cracks that may have been hard to see whilst there was paint on the wheel. Again, on inspection if there is a crack present in the wheel you will receive a video detailing the imperfection.

Stage 3

Any Damage is removed, Any kerb damage that is too deep to be machined out will be Alu Tig welded to rebuild the surface of the alloy (NO EXTRA CHARGE)

ย

The wheels are then blasted in our automatic shot blaster, this is a state of the art process, this removes any remaining paint/debris on the surface of the wheel whilst also cleaning the surface. The whole wheel is shot blas not just the face. This process keys the surface of the wheel which creates the best possible surface for the powder coat painting process.

Stage 4

Wheels are then place in our specially designed wheel ovens where they are left to DEGAS, Degassing ensures that any moisture or contaminants that could cause outgassing are removed prior to powder coating. The majority of the colours we use (not all) require us to follow a โ€˜three coat systemโ€™ Some of the colours, mainly candy & Flip metallic colours require a four coat system.

Stage 5

Once cured, we allow the wheel to cool down to the correct temperature and then the face of the wheel is then wet sprayed the colour of your choice. Once wet sprayed, the wheel is placed back into our oven to cure the paint.

Stage 6

Once the wet paint has been laid, the face is then powder coat acrylic lacquered , which is by far the best product on the market for both finish and durability, Once the wheel has cured, we visually QC the wheel to ensure it meets our high standards. We then carefully refit your tyres once completely cooled. The wheels that have been painted in dark colours will be balanced with black balancing weights. Wheels are carefully fitted back to vehicle, Torqued to manufactures recommendations, cleaned tyres dressed and ready for collection
